How can i get a decal/vinyl off my car window? Any household stuff like paint thinner or something?

So when i bought my car it had ( and still does have ) a vinyl on the back window. So i tried to get it off today and its just really stuck on there it seems like its been there for a long time. Is there anything i can use to peel it off or chip it away?
