Why is my boyfriend like this?

WE get on great and he is very sweet and will put everything down to spend time with me. But whenever I mention where I want to have a holiday he laughs at me saying "why would you go there it's sh*t" even though he has never been abroad. He seems to get bored when I talk to him and I told him that my nan had died he just nodded and changed the subject. When I last saw him all he did was moan about how bored he was and he never seems to enjoy himself unless he is just lazing in bed with me. He doesn't even have with me because the bed is too loud! this is a reasonably new relationship and I am just trying to understand the workings of a mans mind :)
