Why is God so evil and full of hate and killing?

I'm glad this religious discussion is in the mythology and folklore section. If you have to ask a question like this then you're not ready for the answer. We all need something to lean on, something to trust in, something to help us through the hard times, something to keep us humbled, something to ist in direction, something to feel good about...hence, the creation of religion. Its all folklore, designed to keep humanity civilized. Its actually a wonderful thing that was very much needed at the time of its creation, but there are exceptions and limitations of such control measures; extremists and realists who will debate endlessly over invisible intangible father figures and bring civilization back to a stage it was at prior to the establishment of religion in some form or fashion. I'm sure you are aware that stubborn theocratic ethnocentric extremists have caused more wars in the name of religion than any other reason. Long story short, the specific pages you listed here were meant for fear mongering, as with the majority of the old testament, something not yet developed into a more palatable measure of guidance for humanity- which the new testament did a little better job of framing. The wrong question is who is god, what does he want for me, what is the meaning of life, etc etc etc. The right question is why does my entire life need purpose, why do I need god, why could I not just be a civilized human being and enjoy life without worshiping some hokey story or false prophet, why could I not just make a difference in the world for the people I know and love who are in it with me?
